The work involves contact with people both within the employing organisation and externally. Purchasing administrators spend much of their time using trade directories and catalogues. Purchasing managers normally work with the help of a clerk or secretary. Managers working in a larger organisation might have a purchasing administrator or a team of buyers, senior buyers and others.

Additionally, you can register on these Job Boards for vacancy alerts sent to you via email. You simply specify your requirements for the type of job, and you are then alerted immediately a vacancy that may be of interest is lodged on the Job Board.

A recent trend in internet recruitment is that employers and candidates are becoming very specific in their requirements, with a strong emphasis now on industry specific job boards. For example, there are Job Boards like JustEngineers focused solely on engineering vacancies and CWJobs focused on IT jobs. There has been an explosion of Job Boards into the industry specific segment and this will certainly continue to be the trend. The reasons for this are that employers know that they have a very targeted audience for the vacancies they are advertising. Given that employers essentially are looking for candidates with specific industry experience, then the industry-specific Job Boards are an excellent medium for employers and recruiters to advertise. Recruitment agencies also are tending to specialise in certain industry sectors.
